We were engaged to assist with this relatively complex Government social housing project. The developer (Kainga Ora) had purchased a newly built subdivision, however the number of lots was to be substantially increased from the original plans. This required significant alteration to the recently provisioned power and fibre infrastructure and therefore plenty of communication with the relevant infrastructure providers. We also took care of designing the private power networks and lighting in the JOAL's and coordinated with the civil company to ensure this was successfully installed.
This project covered a comprehensive range of services. As well as the typical infrastructure element we take care of, we provided a full electrical and mechanical design service, right through to PS1 documents for consent.
We were engaged after the developer had already procured a quote from Vector. After reviewing the design and agreement, we were able to identify several small issues that would have caused major time and cost issues. We tidied this up before the contract was executed. We designed all of the internal private power network, managed the JOAL lighting design, saving approximately $30,000 from the original scope and oversaw the design and execution of the Chorus fibre installation.
For this development we worked with the developer from the outset, analysing the electrical loading requirements and then the full coordination of Vector and Chorus designs, quotes and installation works. We also managed the external lighting design which had to take into account a special ecological area with significant trees on site. We also planned out the provisional EV charging infrastructure.
